Darzee Scrubs was founded in 2020 by a husband-wife team in Colorado with a science background and a love for our beautiful planet. The duo has been working on a solution for the DIRTY SPONGE PROBLEM. The issue is two-fold:
First, countless household items like the synthetic sponges and scrubbers for washing and bathing are made from non-renewable resources like crude oil and take a very long time to break down. Moreover, microplastic containing toxic chemicals from these products go down the drain and pollute our water sources and the environment.
Second, more eco-friendly alternatives like the natural loofah made from plants vary greatly in terms of quality and price with most of them coming from overseas. While they may be better for the environment, they are not necessarily better for your health. Like their plastic counterparts, natural loofahs provide the ideal space for harmful bacteria to breed and spread. Keeping these types of scrubbers clean can be challenging/inconvenient.
A Dream Was Born

Darzee Scrubs was named after a little bird in Rudyard Kipling's beloved classic "The Jungle Book." Today Darzee's descendants can still be found in many parts of South Asia/Southeast Asia.
"Darzee", meaning "tailor", describes the bird's extraordinary skill in creating well-camouflaged nests by using its needle-like beak to sew together leaves using various materials like plant fiber and even spider webs.
Like the Darzee bird's nest, our aspen exfoliators are made of all natural material and sewn rather than glued together. Darzee Scrubs, LLC is a family-owned, small business based in Colorado. Our products are 100% plant-based and do not contain animal products. They are also free from synthetic chemicals and artificial fragrances.
